DALLAS, Nov. 04, 2025 — Surgical Automations, a stealth-mode surgical-robotics company leveraging AI and automation to transform gastrointestinal endoscopy, announced the closing of its $3.4 million oversubscribed seed round, completed earlier this year. The round was co-led by Dr. Fred Moll, founder of Intuitive Surgical ($ISRG), and TurboStart, a Bengaluru, India–based cross-border venture-capital firm.

“Surgical robotics is entering a new era where automation and intelligence are poised to transform clinical care,” said Dr. Fred Moll, co-lead investor. “Surgical Automations is pursuing one of the most important opportunities in endoscopy, combining bold innovation with the pragmatism needed to bring meaningful change to patient care.”

Surgical Automations is developing the Vāsuki Robotic System, a next-generation platform for upper and lower GI diagnostic and interventional procedures. Operating largely in stealth, the company has advanced breakthroughs in robotics, advanced sensing, and AI-driven automated navigation—technologies that automate critical steps of endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy, providing unprecedented vision and control to the gastroenterologist. Its mission is to make GI screening safer, faster, and easier for endoscopists by simplifying procedures and elevating precision.

“Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths, yet the screening experience remains painful, inconsistent, and underserved by technology,” said Ganesh Raju, Founder of TurboStart. “We backed Surgical Automations because they’re re-imagining this from first principles with the right blend of AI, robotics, and regulatory clarity. This team’s deep domain insight aligns with our thesis of backing global deep-tech for human health.”

In addition to institutional investors, the round drew several physicians and individual members from community organizations including the Rajput Association of North America (RANA), the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Alumni Association of North Texas, and the Maharana Association of North America.

“Surgical Automations exemplifies the kind of global, deep-technology innovation that advances human health while being headquartered in North Texas,” said Dr. Srinivas ‘Benne’ Bette, Founder of the IIT Entrepreneur Advisor Network.

The company continues to operate in stealth as it advances the Vāsuki Robotic System toward pre-clinical validation and first-in-human studies.

Twin sisters Kavea & Ramya started KALANECA as two dreamers who fell in love with the art of handloom. Coming from Kakinada of Andhra Pradesh, they were passionate to bring the focus to a small coastal village in Andhra Pradesh called UPPADA, where handmade silk sarees told stories that have been woven for over 75 years. For years, that legacy quietly thrived, known only to a few connoisseurs.

In 2014, with one weaver and ten looms, they decided to bring those stories to the world. The small step became the beginning of Kalaneca – House of Handloom, born out of the belief that the grace of Uppada deserves a global stage.

What began as a passion project has today grown into a family of 135 weavers and 160 looms, yet the essence remains unchanged – every saree is handwoven, never mass-produced. Each piece carries with it the time, silk, and the soul of the artisans behind it. Through Kalaneca, they’ve taken Uppada’s art beyond India – to the USA, UAE, Australia, South Africa, and many more countries.

KALANECA gave birth to the concept of Lightweight Luxury. Keeping the grand designs of Indian heritage and the Uppada weaving, seamlessly integrated the beauty of the concept, making it one of the most comfortable yet desirable sarees.

Over the years, Kalaneca has found admirers among HNI clients, bureaucrats, and through leaders from across industries. Remarkable women such as Radhika Gupta, Lola Kutty, Seema Anand, Kirron Kher, and Shobita Dhulipala adorn Uppada silks.

Their signature innovation – The Queen’s Gambit Jamdani saree, took the tradition of Jamdani motifs of Uppada and gave them a modern reinterpretation, ensuring that the designs, techniques, and the looms themselves remain alive for generations to come.

Today, Uppada’s future looks brighter than ever. As Uppada’s name finds its place among the world’s most loved handlooms, it is Kalaneca that has played a meaningful part in that journey. The world is slowly falling in love with butter silks and the grace of light-weight luxury, and at the heart of that is Uppada, brought to life by Kalaneca. Because when something is handmade with heart, it doesn’t just stay local – it becomes eternal.
